Your Guide to Verifying your Website on Google

You DEFINITELY know as a website owner that verifying your site on google search console is the best way to help monitor its performances, to track its metrics, to keep informed of crawled and indexed urls as well as of any security issues that may be affecting it.

How to verify your website on Google Search Console

Before getting to verify you website, you need to have already created a Gmail Account.

If you don’t have any yet, let’s start with creating one…

Once your google account is ready, let’s start with the following:

Navigate to Google Search Console

Head over to Google Search Console website and click on that “Get Started now” button to move on with the sign-up process…

Select Property Type

Once clicking on that “Get Started now” button, you’ll land on the following page where you’re prompted to select a property type out of two.

Go for “URL prefix” as it offers an easy setup process…

Type in your website URL and click “CONTINUE

Verify Ownership Process

After clicking that “CONTINUE“, you’ll land up on a page with different verifications methods.

Scroll down to the HTML tag validation method and click to unfold…

Once unfolded, a meta tag verification code will be available to copy out there. Click “COPY” to copy it…

Head Over to your WordPress Dashboard

Now that we’ve that verification code copied, we’ll paste it within one of the following available plugins

Rank Math SEO Plugin

In case you’re running Rank Math SEO plugin on your Worpdress, please follow the below steps:

1 – Go to your WordPress Dashboard

2 – Click “Rank Math SEO” to be found on the left side of your Dashboard

3 – Click “General settings” then “Webmaster Tools”

Once your code pasted in that Google Search Console field, scroll a little bit down the page to click “Save Changes

Yoast SEO Plugin

In case you’re running instead “Yoast SEO” plugin on your Worpdress, the process will be quite similar:

1 – Go to your WordPress Dashboard

2 – Click “Yoast SEO” to be found on the left side of your Dashboard.

3 – Click “settings” then under “General” section, click “Site connections”

4 – Paste you copied code in “Google” field as shown below

5 – Click “Save Changes”

Validate your site ownership

Now that you pasted your verification code and saved changes either through Rank Math SEO or Yoast SEO plugins, go back to Google Search Console platform and click ” VALIDATE” then “FINISH“.

And that’s it!

With that, you would have successfully verified your website on Google and can start enjoying the different and amazing features this tool is offering…
